How quick life can change…. The great news is God is still in control and shines brightly through their smiles. 15 year old Jared Jordan and his family before and after he broke his neck.
Small world… Triumph Over Tragedy Foundation (TOTF) serves families affected by spinal cord and brain injuries. As part of our fundraising and awareness, we hold a golf tournament each year in November. All three years the same foursome has won. One of the members of this foursome is an orthopedic spine surgeon.
On June 13, Reggie, cofounder of TOTF, received a call from this doctor letting him know a tragedy had struck close to home. One of his surgical assistant’s fifteen year old child was playing in a swimming pool and sustained a broken neck.
Reggie visited Jared and his family in Macon, and TOTF made the recommendation for the family to move him to Shepherd Center for rehab. While Jared has made tremendous progress, we know firsthand, this injury is a marathon not a sprint.
Jared will come home in a chair, and their home is not currently ready. Many people don’t stop and think about how their loved one will get around if they have to maneuver in a wheelchair; from accessing the home entry, doorways, floors, and bathroom. TOTF needs your help to modify the Jordan home. We have already donated a lift system to help get Jared out of the bed and into his chair and bathroom. However, there is a lot more to do. If you have a skill and want to donate your time let us know. If you are able to donate monetarily, please feel free to click the link below or send checks to the address below.
